Public Works Administrative Specialist

City of Box Elder

Job Title: Public Works Administrative Specialist

Opening Date: Position Open Until Filled

Pay Range: $35,006.40 - $41,579.20 Annually


The Public Works Administrative Specialist provides administrative/clerical support for the department.


Provides initial customer service by answering phones and directing calls to appropriate individuals and/or other departments.

Prepares and sends to the media, PSA’s and advertisements for bid.

Responsible for the distribution of plans and specifications for projects advertised for bid.

Tracks infrastructure projects during the two-year warranty period. Assists the Director/City Engineer in the preparation of reports, resolutions, ordinances, and other correspondence.

Maintains the Public Works calendar of events, schedules meetings and other appointments.

May prepare information for the City Clerk to publish on the website such as road closures and bid information.

Operates standard office equipment such as copiers, personal computers, printers, fax, sorters, collators, scanners, and other common office equipment.

Orders equipment and supplies, prepares and processes purchase orders for submission to the purchasing manager, and arranges for equipment maintenance and repair as necessary.

Maintains electronic and hard files of contracts, bid documents, project information in compliance with applicable legal requirements

Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion at all times.


Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years

Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.

Ability to type a minimum of 50 wpm.
