WHAT’s New In Elections:

In 2023, City Council terms for Wards 1, 2, and 3 will be open.  If you are interested in running for City Council, please visit the City Elections webpage ( for updates in March/April 2023 for further information.  More information will be available at that time.

There is currently a vacancy in Ward 2.  Council is accepting letters of interestest until 5 p.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2023.  Council will appoint an individual to City Council during the January 17, 2023 Council Meeting. 

The appointment will be effective beginning at the February 7, 2023 Council Meeting. The individual that is appointed will serve the unexpired Ward 2 term that will expire in June 2023.

If you are unsure if you are registered to vote, please visit and enter the applicable information.  Or, you may call the county auditor for assistance with registration verification (Pennington - (605) 394-2153; Meade - (605) 347-2360).

To register to vote, you may go to the applicable county auditor's office or Box Elder City Hall and complete a Voter Registration Form.  These forms are also available online.  You can print, fill out, sign, and mail or drop them off to Box Elder City Hall or the county auditor's office.  The forms and other information can be found by visiting the links below.
